Post subject: 1987 325E fuel issue.... HELP!

| I have an issue with fuel delivery. The car will start, it will get pressure at the rail (37 psi), it'll run for a while...
when the car gets warm, the pressure fluters and drops to zero and the engine dies. It is then difficult to start, sometimes, just to do it all again.
there is a new filter on the line.
Jumping the fuel pump relay works fine and pressurizes the rail.
Can a fuel pump come on and off if it is dying or does it just die??
What could this be??

Bad fuel pump relay would be my first guess. Main relay could be bad
too. And don't forget corrosion in the fuse box either, which is a popular
one.

Had a similar problem with my old E38 --------- dodgy fuel pump - swapped it out
and never a bother since - car now sold and still going well.

How did you replace a fuel pump in 11 minutes (time between first post and
second)?

Probably took 3 weeks to find the problem but wanted to look smart but forgot to
change the date and time of first post.

That is the time the message was received by the server; my news server
has he posts one minute apart. He could have sent them 24 hours apart
but if they were delayed along the way then they would arrive much
closer together.
