Post subject: My 190E "check Engine"

light came on and went off from time to time. Now it is on all the time, for
about 600 miles with no problem. Temperature ok and oil pressure great. what
elses does this measure?? Its a 88 190E 2.3 with 107K miles. Well
maintained. Any ideas??

You need retrieve the fault code it is leaving. It one of at least 27 things.
You need to count the light blinks.

Hey, How do I check my MPG display? I was able to check it.. - somehow a few months in the past, and I don't remember the sequence any more. The FSS switch is the one I played with last time. Any one remember the sequence? THe manual didn't seem to cover this feature. Thanks C280 2000.

190E cuts out - my 190E has had a habit of cutting out usually as i am coasting to a junction or starting out from one. VERY DANGEROUS now the problem is worse it cuts out and although it will restart it cuts out again after 3 to 10 seconds. the dealer cannot trace any....

1985 190E 4cyl gas hard starting when cold - Engine will start right away, run for a few seconds then stall. You have to repeat this process about 15 times until the engine warms up enough to stay running. You can't touch the gas pedal at all until warmed up or it stalls. Once warmed up it runs....

1991 Mercedes 190e fuel pump short circuited. - I accidently short circuited the fuel pump on my 1991 MB 190e 2.3 automatic. The fuel pump is not getting any electicity. The fuse on the top of the OPV relay is OK. Is there another fuse that protects this circuit?

What to check on this one ? - Thinking of buying this and wondered what the group could suggest I checked out in particular to avoid potentially costly bills that may be around the corner ? In particular I was worried about the auto transmission and "towbar" and whether ...
