Hi,
I need to change splark plugs on my Alfa 156 2.0.
Mechanic recommends me Champion splark plugs because NGK are not
available.
Is Champion a good choice and how does it compare to NGK and Bosch?

Thanks.

EBspares www.ebspares.co.uk does offer Champions and the original NGKs.

Don't know what the part number is for the Champions. Doubt they'd
tell us offhand. So perhaps they've found something that is an OK
match. I'd go for the original NGKs though.

Others with more knowledge will answer your query, but your question
prompts me to ask :
AR say to change the plugs every every 60k km's / 5 years, various
independents say every 12k km's / 12 months - who is right ?

AR specify long-life platinum tipped plugs, change interval 100k km / 60k
miles or 5 years, so AR are right even though you mis-quote them. They
introduced this type of plug with associated long service interval in 1993
with the V6 24V engine fitted to the 164 (IIRC it wasn't fitted to earlier
engines) so they have plenty of history to back up the practice.

Can you name these independents or give their reasons for trying to sell
plugs 5 times as often as recommended?

Mark
