Guys
I have a 156 v plate 2.0 litre twin spark.
SInce i have owned it this occurs more and more. When you are driving
it sometimes it looses power and feels like it might stall (random
occasions) and the battery light blickers on (and sometimes other
lights abs etc)

Anyone any ideas?

James

I'm not how relevant this is but I had a similar problem with my '76
cortina, intermittent drops in power (both electrical and horsepower)
whilst driving, it turned out to be the voltage regulator mounted on
the back of the alternator.

It might be an earthing problem - the earth strap under my 156 gave up
the ghost last year and I had some of your symptoms - although mine also
wouldn't start.

I'd think it was something related to the alternator e.g. the voltage
regulator etc.
Could be why the battery light blinks too.
The others are blinking due to a lack of sufficient electrical voltage
too.

I had a similar problem with my JTD. In my case it was the main battery
that needed replacing, it was just past its best and the voltage was
dropping off. Check too that the connections to the battery are secure,
I had mine back from service once and they had not tightened the
connection up causing it to cut out.

Had that on the wife's GTV 2.0TS - She told me the RAC man hit the idle
valve to unstick it - never happened again in the 6 months before we
parted with it.
