Hello Gentlemen and Ladies

It's been somtime since I last posted, which I guess tells you that
things have been OK with the lady...that is until the other day.

On three occasions in the past ten days or so, I have experienced a
loss of power under heavy acceleration and a message saying 'Motor
Control Failure'.

This morning I took the car to my local specialist who plugged in the
computer and got the following two messages:

1. P1555 - Accelertor brake feasibility
2. P0235 - Supercharging pressure

Can anyone tell me what these mean? Is it likely to be a problem with
the turbo? Any ohter feedback?

The car is now nearly five years old and covered just over 57k miles.

Thanks

Simon C

If it's a partial misfire or hesitation round about 3000rpm or above,
I'd be willing to bet that the MAF (mass airflow meter) is the cause.
It's not uncommon. A (recon!) replacement from a main dealer is about
140UKP fitted. It's also a straightforward job so well within the
capabilities of DIY or independent garage.

Also, when mine was done, the main dealer found it easier to fault
find the MAF by swapping with a known good one rather than
interpreting the fault codes!

I would seriously doubt the turbo was faulty unless you have regularly
not been letting it cool down before switch off.

Hi Simon,
Like you i also have a similar problem with my 156 multijet ( 3 years old)
Took it into the dealers this morning to get a new booster control fitted, as this was the diagnosed problem. The dealer tested the car with the diagnostic hooked up, and although it was showing a slight decrease in turbo boost when driven hard, everything else appeared normal. Anyway after i had paid the man and was on my way home, after about twenty miles, guess what? yep you guessed it the damn warning message appeared again MOTOR CONTROL FALIURE - GO TO DEALER followed by a noticable loss of power on acceleration. I have rebooked it in for next saturday so that they can get to the real problem, as i am convinced that this booster valve has absolutely nothing to do with it. But in answer to your origional question it is very doubtfull that the turbo is at fault.
Keep you posted on the outcome next Saturday!
