Help - have a 2001 147 Selespeed.

Recently it has taken to changing gear on it's own.

Sympoms:
- At low speed or while stationary, the gear selector display
flashes. As soon as you try to drive off, the car changes up to 2nd
on it's own,and then attempts to cycle up through the gears - I see 3
and 4 flashing, and then flashing back to 2.
- Sometimes when it does this, the display locks on 4, even though the
car is clearly ended up in 2nd gear.
- The fault is not identical each time i.e. it is not a specific
pattern of gear changes.
- The fault is intermittant, and seems to occur most when the car is
cold and has been left overnight.

It has been to the dealer twice - they adjusted the clutch, and
replaced the steering wheel gear paddles. I don't think they have a
clue what the problem is.

Anyone else had similar?
