What is a good price for a 2004 Accord EX, V6, 6 speed, 2 door, no
navigation? I can find the supposed "invoice price" on the internet,
but I don't completely trust that. The dealer said he'd sell it for
$1000 over invoice, but that was his initial offer without any
negotiation at all. Out the door price, including tax (6%) and title
transfer fee was quoted as a hair under $27K. I believe the price of
the car that's supposedly 1000 over was $25,340 (Edmunds shows invoice
as $23,844.) I'd also be finanacing through Honda for 48 months
@2.9%. I will of course check out other dealers also. BTW this would
be purchased in the Great Lakes region.

Any advice appreciated.

Does Edmunds offer any dealers in your area who will send you quotes?

I did that recently, had four below-invoice quotes in the email within
twenty-four hours (on an EX4 auto sedan).

I just bought a 2004 Accord and I got it for $150 below invoice.

After researching the invoice and "TMV" on Edmunds.com, I just called
all the dealers in my area (about eight of them) and asked for the Internet
sales manager. I told them what I wanted, asked if he had any, and asked for
their best price. I then called back the guy with the second lowest price
and asked if he could beat the lowest. He could. I called back the dealer he
had just beat, and they wouldn't go any lower. That's how I got my price.

I think that this system worked very well for me. YMMV.

At the "one simple price" Honda dealer here in San Antonio, TX. they
normally have one or two EX V6 accords (4 door) for 23,600 - 24,100.
The 2 door is about $300. less. The other EX v6's (presumably on the
lot for a shorter period) are usually just over 24,000 to just over
25,000.

Find out what the Cars-Direct price is and shoot for it. At least in my
case, it was considerably cheaper then Edmunds TMV price. I ended up
getting the Cars-Direct price from a dealer not refered by them.

Has no one else tried the mycar.com web site? For $20, I had the dealwers
bidding for 7 days. Then I can choose to purchase or not. I know I could
do the same myself, with a phone book and a fax machine, but this service
has it already to go. Got a cr-v ex for $300 under invoice and an accord ex
w/ leather for $650 under.

Might be worth a try.

If you pay one of those prices, you are getting a fine deal. I'm not saying
that you wont be able to find a lower price. What I'm saying is that you
should have no guilt paying those prices. But it will be worth it to call
the Internet sales departments of a few other dealers and see if they can
beat them.

wow. I don't know about the prices of the V6 EX accord. All I know
is that for that price, the TSX seems like a much nicer car. It has
200 Horsepowers, a six speed manual shift; all leather seats, a VSA
and traction control system. And it is an Acura (Acuras are extremely
nice, the way they do their luxury cars). I suppose that it may cost
more if you want Nav in the TSX. And also, it is a I-4 instead of V6,
but it is also lighter and I bet it will beat the accord off the line
in an all out race.

Sorry to get off topic on ya. Just wanted to make sure you didn't
totally rule out the TSX before you bought the Accord.

cheers.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I bought an Accord Coupe EX-L V6 6speed non Navi with no additional options
for $25,000 even last month. I bought it in the central Texas area. Edmunds
listed the TMV price as MSRP+Dest.& handling $26,960.

So when I didn't see one in the color I wanted on the lot of a new Honda
dealer that opened up here recently I offered $25K, figuring they 1)
wouldn't be able to obtain one and 2)could not sell one at that price. I
guess I could have asked for a thousand dollars less because they accepted
the price without a counter offer. That was Ok because I forced them into
matching the trade allowance offered by another dealer ( it was $1150 more
than their initial trade appraisal )

The end of December might be easier time to get deals as dealers are trying
to slash inventories.

So that was without tax, I assume? Was the price of the car, plus tax, title, etc?

Accord V6: 240HP 212 lb-ft torque, 3285 lbs
TSX: 200HP 166 lb-ft torque, 3230 lbs.

I'd say the Accord is *considerably* faster. As a matter of a fact,
it's kind of dissapointing Acura (Honda) didn't offer a V6 in a luxury
car like that.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I suppose you are correct. I guess I am just used to the sounds of 4
cylinders and I have a bias toward 4 inliners like the Prelude. I
guess I am the typical asian who for some reason are drawn to the
ricer burners.

The prelude is a four cylinder and makes considerably better sounding
and revving driving experience than a tame and quiet V6. I believe
hearing the engine revving up is a great part of the experience of
driving a fast car. Just isn't the same with a V6.

by the way, have you considered the TL? That is an Acura luxury V6
with leather.

I can't give the exact numbers because I traded in a vehicle and that lowers
the tax. State of Texas deducts trade value from price of vehicle before
figuring tax you pay on new vehicle ( They figure you have already paid tax
on trade in vehicle when you bought it )

Add about $1800 if you don't have a trade for tax, title and license in TX.
Could be lower or higher in another state, depends on your states vehicle
sales tax rate and fees.

I was originally looking to get a 2004 TSX, but no area dealer wanted to
budge on the MSRP price of around $27,000. TSX has a much better interior
dash layout and probably better build quality but comes with a 200 hp 2.4
liter 4 cyl. engine that requires premium fuel.

Honda V6 6 speed coupe, as someone said, has a 240 HP 3.0 liter V6 that
burns regular. It comes standard with XM satellite radio, 17" wheels with
Michelin tires and 180 watt premium sound system. The clincher for Me was
that Honda Finance Corp. was offering 2.9% APR for 48 months on all
Accords.Worth about another$1500 in savings over the length of car loan.
